              Ciepiela Throws a Gem

The last two times the Braves have faced Tigers Ace Chris Ciepiela they have scored 4 runs in 12 innings. She is able to keep the Braves hitters off balance by changing speeds and pitch locations. J.J. Odom threw a complete game and had struck out 5 Tiger hitters while only yielding two walks, but his defense committing 6 errors allowed the Tigers to extend innings and push 8 unearned runs across the plate. Regardless the Tigers capitalized on the chances they had, by also playing errorless defense and netting 12 hits. Whenever these two teams meet it is always a battle. Last season the teams split the match ups with the Braves winning 6-4, and the Tigers taking the second game 5-3. These teams will face each other again in Game 12 and it should another good match up and hopefully Ciepiela will be on vacation!

Orioles Continue Winning Streak

Pirates pitching yielded 8 walks along with 4 hit by pitch batters to help the undefeated Orioles timely hit their way to an easy 10-4 victory at Daley Field in Easthampton. The returning Champion Orioles stellar defense, especially at short and second took the wind out of The Pirates sails, as they made several fine plays on possible base hits.

Mike Maier held the Pirates to one run for six innings as he scattered five hits and walked one.. with runners on second and third and Andy Ayers at bat.  Sam Williams hurled the 7 th and 8 th and Pete
Varley the ninth.  The Orioles defense virtually flawless and some great plays in the field were made by Ned Nedeau in center, Peter Varley at short, Fran Nai at second, and John Demerski at first base.

The Orioles offense was lead by Ron Dumont continued his hot streak at the plate going 3 for 3;
Tony Curd, Pete Varley, Monte Kroh, Sam Williams, and Bob " RBI" Mahler all came through with key hits with runners in scoring position.

The crisply played game was completed in 2 hours and 35 minutes.
