A's score in double digits for the 5 game in a row
The Braves were forced to play with only 8 guys due to late notice that
the game was still on, causing at least three players to miss the game and
with the late start get to only play 8 innings. And going into a game
against the highest scoring team in the league you surely do not want to be
shorthanded. The Braves jumped out a to an early 2 run lead in the first
inning, but who knew that would be all the scoring they would do? But as
usual the Braves error prone defense helped the A's scored 12 runs, who also
aided themselves with 11 hits. A's pitcher Todd Allman was able to hold the
Braves hitters to 4 hits. The Braves did have a chance plate more runs when
they loaded the bases with no outs in the third inning, but Allman settled
in and calmly struck out the next three hitters to end the rally and inning.
With the victory the A's remain only one loss behind the Orioles, and with a
victory next week and if the Cards can beat the undefeated Orioles there
would be a three way tie for first place.
Meanwhile the Braves go in search of their fielding and hope to get a few
key players back from injuries in the next week or two.
